Munstrum
From ACRSWiki
Munstrum is an intact, male guinea pig approximately one year of age at his time of intake. He is intact, and is a warm, brown agouti with 'dutch' type white facial markings.
He is one of the most laid back pigs to be in the ACRS program. Munstrum is happy to accept head scratches and petting, even in the cage, although he shows some nervousness at being in people's arms when they're moving. He is an extremely "gentle giant", weighing nearly 3.5 lbs. His favorite place to sit is in his "Superpet" stuffed chair.

Pre-Surrender History
Munstrum was owned by a family in Fuquay. They decided to get a friend for him, and upon the advice of a local pet store, purchased a female companion (now called Esme) for him. She quickly became pregnant and gave birth to a litter off four. Though ACRS went out when the babies were 3 weeks old to separate and help build cages, the family was quickly overwhelmed and contacted us threatening to dump them at the Wake County Animal Shelter. At the initial visit, all of the guinea pigs were living in a 2x6 C&C cage (although split between Esme and Munstrum, with the offspring living with Esme. However, upon intake, the guinea pigs had been put into small hamster cages, with each group of 3 living in a cage approximately 3 square feet in size.
On initial sexing visit to separate the babies, Munstrum had extreme mites. He was covered in open wounds and seizuring frequently. He was treated with Revolution by Jenn, and upon his intake showed a marked improvement, though he still obviously had a mild case of mites.
Munstrum is the father of Rincewind, Twoflower, Petulia, and Tiffany.
Medical History
2007
December 20 - Munstrum was treated wtih Revolution for his severe mite problem which was manifested as open wounds and seizuring. He was also taken in to Dr. Munn for his "well-pig" visit, and pronounced healthy, except for the mites.
2008
February 14 - Munstrum was treated again with Revolution. At this point he was not seizuring, but had some open wounds remaining.
May 25 - Munstrum was rushed to the Vick Road Small Animal Emergency Clinic early on this day. The previous day he had shown some baffling symptoms, but was still eating and drinking very well. We opted to give him another day to see where his symptoms would go. Today when examined, he was noticeably worse and in severe pain. He was rushed to the e-vet, and they recommended euthanasia as his heart rate was already extremely low and they believed he was already on his way out. Cause of death at time of death is unknown, necropsy results are pending.
Partner
Munstrum is currently living by himself, awaiting neuter. In early 2008, he resided with his sons, Twoflower and Rincewind, however, as they approached puberty and became more dominant, the trio broke apart.
Foster History
Munstrum is fostered with Jenn in Morrisville.
Adoption History
Munstrum was set to be adopted by Cindy in Raleigh as a companion to her pig, Maxwell. He became sick the morning of adoption, and the adoption was cancelled at the last minute due to medical issues.
Death
Munstrum was euthanized at the Vick Road Small Animal Clinic at approximately 9:30am on Sunday, May 25th, 2008.
